Wow, Denzel is firing on all cylinders and absolutely CRUSHED every scene. I’d love to know how many minutes of the film are his dialogue — it’s gotta be huge.
Viola Davis was terrific and brought so much love and tenderness to the story.
Denzel’s character is an incredibly flawed man in the film, but he’s trying to make do with the what he has. He portrays it masterfully.
I had no idea the cast of the film were also cast in the play based on the same material. Wow! It definitely comes through each performance.
I didn’t notice any score for the first 45 minutes of the film. Then it was very obvious when one came into the film.
