The sweeping score and cheesy lines are pretty heavy-handed and cringy. I think this shows that Michael Bay isn’t quite cut out to deliver on a sappy love story.
As a period piece and one that showcases one of the United States darkest times in history, I think it delivers pretty successfully!
The action really kicks in in a big way about an hour and 40 minutes in and doesn’t really let up until the close of the film.
Despite what most people say about it, I’ve got a soft spot for this film.
