While I appreciated the short flashbacks to the previous movies, I felt like it was maybe too much forced nostalgia.
It seems like this film was made for the Matrix super fans and not so much for the casual viewer. If you don’t know your matrix stuff, you may have trouble keeping up. I’m really glad I rewatched the original trilogy this week — otherwise, I would have been even worse off following along.
I found some of the meta aspects of the movie confusing.
There were definitely times when I found myself straining to pay attention to everything just so I wouldn’t miss something important to the story.
I’m gonna have to watch this again to better understand my feelings but I’d say it’s a solid addition to the franchise.
