I recently watched the Paterno HBO movie with Al Pacino portraying Penn State football coach Joe Paterno. As a Penn State alumni, my mouth was agape the entire movie – I was riveted. The film was very well done but it definitely re-opened some wounds about the Jerry Sandusky child abuse scandal that I had mostly tried to bury deep in my memory.
As someone who has seen countless interviews and videos of JoePa over the years, I was struck by how well Al Pacino pulled off his portrayal of Paterno. After a few minutes, my brain stopped seeing Pacino on screen and just saw Paterno.
The film made it very clear that Gary Schultz, Graham Spanier, Tim Curly, and of course, Jerry Sandusky, the child molester, are the absolute scum of the Earth.
